Biography
- ca. 1170: Born in Benevent.
- studied and taught in Bologna.
- 1215: Magister in Arezzo.
- 1219: Appears to be in Pistoia.
- 1220-1227: In service of Frederick II.
- 1224: Taught at the University of Naples.
- after the death of his wife: ordination and clericus cameria in service of Gregory IX.
- Death: 1243.
Activities as Canonist
- 1235/36: Libelli de jure canonico as a Summa juris canonici and work for civilians with little training in canon law. Influential for the procedural practices of the Curia using sources such as Huguccio, John of Faenza, Bazanius, John Gualensis, John Teutonicus, Alanus, Laurentius, Vincentius, Damasus, Tancredus.
