Tancredus

Biography
- Born around 1185 in Bologna.
- Not to be confused with another Tancred, who was a Dominican Friar, even if he might have been member of the Order himself (?)
- Studied under Johannes Galensis and Laurentius Hispanus, Roman Law under Azo.
- Around 1214: Magister decretorum
- Stopped teaching but resumed after the death of Innocent III.
- 1215 or 1216: Canon in Bologna
- 1226: Archdeacon in Bologna
- Lead the investigation concerning the canonisation of St. Dominic.
Activities as Canonist
- One of the most influential Canonists of the 13th century.
