Johannes Galensis
(Walensis)
Biography
- came from Wales.
- Not to be confused with John of Wales, the Oxford Theologian (died 1285).
Activities as Canonist
- taught the Compilatio Prima and Secunda and made singular Glosses on them (before 1212).
- wrote and Apparatus on the Compilatio Tertia. (before 1216).
- it is not sure, if this work was made by the same Johannes Galensis, Ritter distinguishes between 1.) a canonist who died in 1194 and wrote the Compliationes decretalium and 2.) an English Canonist who wrote the Compilatio secunda (1210/12) and Glosses to the Compilatio Tertia.
