Sicardus Cremonensis
Biography
- Born in Cremona.
- Studied in Bologna.
- Stayed some time in Mainz (taught probably Canon Law there).
- 1183: ordained as subdeacon by Pope Lucius III. and priestly ordination by Olfredus of Cremona.
- 1185: elected as Bishop of Cremona.
- 1203: Journey to Armenia.
- 1204: Journey to Constantinople.
- Wrote the Chronicon and the Liber mitralis
- Death: 1215.
Activities as Canonist
- 1187: Legatus Apostolicus
- 1199: played a part in the canonization of Homobonus of Cremona
- Probably between 1179-1182: Wrote a Summa to the Decretum Gratiani (used the Summa of Paucapalea, Rufinus, John of Faenza and Simon): Probably the first attempt to write a Canonical coursebook in accordance with the Decretum.
