Biography

 

• born in Benevent.
• 5^th April 1157: First appearance as Cardinal deacon and cancellarius.
• 15^th June 1158- 7^th February 1178: Cardinal priest (St. Laurentius in Lucina), then Cardinal cancellarius.
• 21. October 1187: elected as Pope Gregory VIII.

Activities as Canonist

• he must have worked on the Decretum according to manuscripts and glossators.
• Probably before 1157: teacher in Bologna, probably teacher of Hugguccio.
• Probably one of the oldest glossators on the Decretum.
