Vicentius de Beauvais

Biography

 

• born: ca. 1180-1190 (Birth place is unknown).
• Student in Paris during the reign of King Philip Augustus (1180-1223), then joined the Order of Preachers (?).
• wrote the Speculum Majus (“Great Mirror”) as a theological encyclopaedia.
• 1246: Subprior at Beauvais (?).
• 1246-1247: Lector of Theology at Royaumont.
• Death: ca.1264.
